HomeStars is proud to shine a light on employees that hustle hard to embody our award-winning culture and we want you to want to join them! Get to know your future teammates, why they love working at HomeStars, and what they’re doing outside of work!
Kevin is a UX Designer who has been at HomeStars since March 2019. When not at work, Kevin can be found drawing, cooking or on the hunt for the next great local concert. Meet Kevin by learning more about him below!
What is your role at HomeStars?
I am part of the Product Team and one of two User Experience Designers at HomeStars. My role involves planning, designing and testing the interfaces of the HomeStars web and mobile apps.
On a typical day, I am working with the Product Team designing prototypes of future features and creating tests to prove whether or not what we’ve designed is a successful solution.
What makes you excited to come to work every day?
As a part of the Product Team, it’s exciting knowing my ideas and designs have a huge impact on the future success of HomeStars. Seeing test results proving my team’s work is creating a positive impact on business is always exciting.
What qualities do you look for in a teammate?
Someone who is open to sharing new ideas and is not afraid to share and receive constructive criticism… and someone who’s up for grabbing beers after work is always a plus too 🙂
If you could trade jobs with someone at HomeStars for a day, who would it be and why?
I’d trade jobs with one of the account managers at HomeStars. They work directly with our customers and have detailed knowledge of their everyday issues — all things that would help me in my day to day work.
What has been your proudest moment at HomeStars?
Getting to redesign the HomeStars homepage (which should be launched fairly soon). The redesigned page was very well received by the HomeStars team and it’s testing very well too.
What is the best piece of advice you have gotten working here?
My boss Adam is a wealth of useful nuggets of advice — he always pushes us to clearly define the problems we’re trying to solve, test our assumptions and document our process so we can clearly articulate our thought process to other members of the organization.
