Please note, these changes are only relevant to pros who have more than one user already associated with their HomeStars account.
As part of improvements we’re rolling out in January, we’re introducing an update to roles assigned within multi-user accounts to give pros more flexibility and control over how they use HomeStars.
With the increasing number of leads pros are likely to receive, it’s important to have a clear system in place that makes it easy to manage and delegate tasks efficiently. The new hierarchy of roles ensures that pros can assign responsibilities based on their needs and streamline their workflow.
What’s Changing?
From 21st January, we’ll be introducing three new roles to help pros manage their accounts effectively. Here are the three new roles that will be available:
1. Account Owner
The Account Owner will retain full control of the account, with the ability to manage everything from lead allocation to billing and user permissions. This role will not change, and will remain in charge of the account.
2. Account Manager
The Account Manager role will replace the current Mobile Administrator User role. Account Managers will have nearly the same level of access as Account Owners, including the ability to manage leads, messages, and reviews. However, they won’t have the ability to remove the Account Owner from their role. This role is ideal for someone who needs access to most of the account’s functions but without the ability to make fundamental changes to ownership.
3. Account Member
The Account Member role is a new, more limited role that allows users to perform specific tasks. Members will be able to:
- Express interest in leads
- Message homeowners
- Respond to reviews once jobs are completed
This role is ideal for team members who need to interact with leads and customers but don’t require full access to account settings.
What’s Happening to Existing Roles?
To ensure a smooth transition to the new system, here’s what to expect for existing roles:
- Current Admins will automatically be upgraded to Account Managers. This means they’ll have similar access to the platform as Account Owners, but with some limitations.
- Service Area Contacts will no longer be assigned a role by default. After 21st January, it will be up to the Account Owner or Account Manager to assign roles to these users by simply logging into their account and updating their role as needed.
- Contributor roles, which were previously used for review requests, will be discontinued. From 21st January onwards, reviews will be automatically requested once a job is marked as complete. This change will simplify the review process and save time.
Whether you’re the Account Owner, a Manager, or a Member of your team, these changes will help everyone stay organized and on top of tasks associated with your account.
