HomeStars is proud to shine a light on employees that hustle hard to embody our award-winning culture and we want you to want to join them! Get to know your future teammates, why they love working at HomeStars, and what they’re doing outside of work!
Eric is a Software Engineer who has been at HomeStars since May 2017 and describes his ideal coworker as someone who is a clear communicator, asks lots of questions, and humours his jokes. While his secret talent is that he is an outstanding lyricist, he wishes he could master playing the piano in the vein of boogie-woogie legend, Professor Longhair. Meet Eric by learning more about him below!
What is your role at HomeStars?
I am a software engineer whose focus is on the “front end” (what one sees in the browser). The designer and product manager determine what the feature will look and act like and then I execute it with my fellow developers.
What makes you excited to come to work every day?
I am fortunate enough to have a job that allows one to enter “flow state” and I look forward to getting into that zone. I also enjoy hilarious coworkers chats.
If you could trade jobs with someone at HomeStars for a day who would it be and why?
Stewart, we have very similar roles so I wouldn’t lose any momentum that day.
How do you stay up to date within your evolving industry?
Email newsletters, articles, casual conversations, books, courses and the Toronto developer scene. PROTIP: Toronto public library has a ton of online developer resources.
What is your proudest HomeStars moment?
NAILING a karaoke duet of Go West’s “King of Wishful Thinking” with a dear coworker.
What is the best piece of advice you have gotten while working here?
Listen to Colleen.
