As of the end of January 2025, professionals on HomeStars will have more control over the leads they receive, thanks to some key updates designed to improve the overall experience.
With the upcoming changes, all jobs that match a professional’s skills and work area will be visible to them, regardless of their plan.
Getting in touch with homeowners will work like this:
- Homeowners post their jobs on HomeStars
- Pros express interest in the leads they want
- The homeowner evaluates the pros’ offer, experience & reviews
- Homeowners shortlist the pro(s) they’re interested in discussing the job in more detail with, automatically sharing their contact information. HomeStars charges the pro a fee for the shortlist.
This means professionals will have more leads to choose from and can decide which opportunities to pursue. To make this process even more efficient, HomeStars will require homeowners to provide more detailed information about their jobs, allowing pros to make more informed decisions.
Additionally, the cost of a lead will be transparent before a pro expresses interest, along with insight into how many other professionals have shown interest and been shortlisted. Importantly, professionals will only be charged if a homeowner shortlists them and shares their contact details. If they aren’t shortlisted, there is no cost.
This shift encourages pros to actively assess leads and choose those that are the best fit, with low risk of paying for uninterested homeowners. Having a strong HomeStars profile and positive reviews will be essential, as homeowners who shortlist a pro will already have made an informed decision to reach out, increasing the chances of winning the job.
