Elizabeth is an Account Director who has been at HomeStars since January 2011 and recently had her 10 year anniversary! After work, you can usually find her cooking or at a spin class, and her secret talent is killer reflexes. She would love to master the skills of investing and stock trading, and is excited to come to work every day because she considers many current and past co-workers to be friends for life!
What is your role at HomeStars?
Account Director. I introduce clients to our services, teach them about branding, SEO, reputation management and how to attract new clients to grow their business. Interesting and typical tasks involve training, handling objections and figuring out what companies are the best fit for homeowners using HomeStars.
If you could trade jobs with someone at HomeStars for a day who would it be and why?
It would be Colleen on our product team! She is our most senior HomeStars member and knows so much about the evolution and growth of HomeStars. I think as salespeople we take for granted the complexities that go into building the product we sell and leverage every day. It would be interesting to see the details from the back end and appreciate what it takes to bring it to market.
What has your career progression been like?
I started as a sales rep hired specifically to grow our (then) seed market in Alberta in 2011. I was employee #7! We were a small start-up that was picking up traction and it was exciting!
We all worked virtually on Skype back then, used Blackberry phones, created our own marketing materials and hosted many events to build our own reputation and awareness in the Canadian market. Our annual company offsites sometimes were at cottages, our Best Of Awards were often intimate and a great way to get to know our new clients personally.
A few years later, I was promoted to Account Director for consistent target achievement, customer service and retention which I’ve maintained through 2020.
What is your proudest HomeStars moment?
I remember my first sale – it was a national sponsorship deal for our Best Of Awards with a big box store – that was a big deal back then and the first of its kind! As well as contributing to and being a part of our merger with HomeAdvisor & Angie’s List.

What was your first job?
I worked at Famous Players in the concession sales. I was crowned “Combo Queen” for selling the most up-sell popcorn combos in Ontario the year Titanic was released LOL.
