Carl Nyaka is an Account Manager who has been at HomeStars since August 2019. His childhood dream job was to be a professional soccer player — he tried until he was 18! What is your role at HomeStars?
The essence of my role is to ensure our beloved home service professionals have someone they can rely on to ensure they are getting the best out of the platform.
What are the qualities of your ideal teammate?
My ideal teammate would have opposing qualities from me. This would enable us to use our different viewpoints and skills to tackle a variety of problems efficiently… There will always be enough similarity in all of us, the key is also having enough differences.
When you aren’t at HomeStars, what are you doing?
Football (Soccer) in all its forms. I’m constantly reading up on, playing, watching and studying the sport. It goes beyond just being a fan.
Travel is another passion of mine. I have travelled to over 20 countries and I hope to add to that after the lockdown.
I also have a passion for world history, I always preferred watching documentaries and the news instead of cartoons as a child.

What is your secret talent?
Over the years I have accumulated a tone of random but useful facts and stats about almost any country on Earth. Very useful for travelling.
If you were an animal which one would you be and why?
Elephant – no real predators (except humans of course). Wise and powerful but very calm and respectful of others. Not interested in involving itself in petty and needless conflict with others.
