HomeStars is implementing an important update to how professionals select their service areas, effective at the end of January 2025. This change aims to enhance the way users receive job leads and ensure they can connect with more opportunities.
What’s changing?
Previously, professionals set their service area based on electoral districts or a radius, which meant they only received job notifications from those specific locations. Under the new system, users will define their single service area using a 12-point polygon. The new polygon system provides a visual framework for professionals to outline their service areas. Users will be able to drag the points of the polygon to expand or adjust the boundaries as needed. Changing the size of the service area will not affect the subscription costs.
Example of a new service area:
What does this mean for professionals?
It is crucial for professionals to ensure that their desired work locations are included within the polygon’s boundary. The new method of defining locations will not exclude areas between preferred locations, meaning that users can expect to receive more leads than before.
While this may result in additional leads coming in, professionals are under no obligation to pursue all of them. They can choose to ignore leads that do not match their specific preferences and continue to express interest only in jobs that align with their interests.
Managing service areas
After the end of January 2025, professionals will have the flexibility to modify their service area settings to suit their requirements. Please note that changes can only be made while logged in on a desktop device; adjustments cannot be made through the mobile app.
By taking advantage of the new polygon system, professionals can optimize their service areas and maximize their chances of receiving relevant job leads.
