White Hot Appliances.
It seems that stainless steel has finally been knocked down from its pedestal as the ultimate finish in appliances. 2017 marks the year that your old white appliances finally become chic again. More and more big brands, such as Miele and Whirpool, are designing their high-end appliances in white. Whirpool recently released their very modern Ice Collection full of white appliances. Unlike the dull white seen in the 80’s and 90’s, this white is reimagined and sleeker, resembling the design of smartphones. If you feel like sleek and modern is how you want your kitchen to look in 2017, give white appliances a shot.
Modern Retro.
If sleek and modern isn’t your style, maybe classic 50’s is. Brands such as Big Chill and Smeg have gone the other direction with their appliances that look like they’ve jumped out a 1950’s kitchen. You can now infuse your home with this vintage design from small appliances like juicers and kettles to big ticket items like stoves and fridges. Each item is available in fun colours that reflect the era, from Buttercup Yellow to Pink Lemonade, giving your kitchen a blast from the past.
Small Space Storage.
With design for small spaces becoming a strong trend for 2017, we’re also seeing the size and space for countertop appliances shrink. Hide away storage spaces and smaller appliances are becoming very trendy in homes. Take a look at this clever “Appliance Garage.” Built below overhead cabinets with a garage style door, they keep small appliances near for easy use, but out of sight and out of the way. Some of these clever storage spaces have even been designed with outlets so you can use them right in their own area. From under the counter pop-out cutting boards, to redesigned lazy Susan’s, 2017 is sure to be the year of smart storage with small space living in mind. What do you think about these 2017 kitchen trends?
