Last week I was fortunate to have the opportunity to speak at Mesh, a conference about social media, marketing and business. It’s been running in Toronto for the past six years and this year will mark their first in Calgary!
What is a community manager?
We hear this term a lot but what exactly does it mean? Not surprisingly, almost everyone who attended my workshop was a community manager in some way, shape or form. We quickly learned that each of us have different roles and responsibilities, depending on what our companies do and what the expectations of our audience is.
The aim of my workshop was to have an interactive discussion with the audience about different examples of community management (good and bad). Instead of the traditional Power Point presentation, I opted to just use the good ol’ Internet and lined up about 10 examples I had experienced – either as a community manager or as a consumer. While the value of the workshop was really in the discussion, I’ve listed some Tweets below. For a full list, check out #Brusier (my chosen hashtag because my arms were covered in bruises from a roller derby tournament I attended the previous weekend).
