Laundry — no one likes doing it (and if you do, please come to my house and help me out) but it’s something we all have to do. While we can’t make the task any more enjoyable, we can help you make the space you’re doing it in a lot more functional and easier on the eyes.
Whether you’re looking to do a major overhaul or just some simple updates, we’ve got you covered. Check out these amazing laundry room renovations from real HomeStars community members’ homes across Canada and be inspired by their laundry rooms.
Laundry In The Washroom
Neil had Bourne Builders completely renovate his entire basement. Before the renovation, Neil had an open and bare concrete basement that he wanted to convert into a proper living space with a separate bathroom and laundry room.
Bourne certainly delivered what Neil wanted in his home. We love the clever use of adding the washer and dryer into the basement bathroom. The plumbing is already in the room, making it easy to connect your washer. Plus, you can throw your clothes in the wash right before you hop in the shower, giving your family no reason to leave dirty clothes on the floor. Here’s an expert tip: throw a load of towels in the dryer while you bathe; that way you’ll have a warm towel to wrap up in after you’re fresh and clean.
Laundry Nook In Front Hall
Homeowner Murray opted to have their laundry nook built into their front hall; an uncommon choice, but as you can see from the pictures, it works.
Sometimes a homeowner has a vision and it just takes the right company, in this case, Remodel Construction, to make it come together. Sleek and tucked away, this laundry nook is a great use of space. Not only do the floor to ceiling cabinets offer a great amount of storage for the entryway, the room will always look put together and clean as the homeowners can easily tuck away unfolded laundry when guests stop by unannounced. The front loading washer and dryer also free up valuable counter space which is always a bonus in a home laundry room.
Hide-Away Laundry Room
Rachel had Sonoma Contracting renovate her entire basement. We love the genius use of a storage closet next to the stairs becoming a hide-away laundry room. No doubt this design choice has enhanced the functionality of the living space.
Whether you like or dislike stackable washers and dryers, there’s no denying they’re space savers. You might be surprised by the small spaces you can fit them into and create a laundry closet of your very own. The best thing about having your laundry room inside a closet is that it can be completely hidden, especially when things get messy in there and the laundry starts to pile up. Close the doors and it’s like the mess never existed.
White & Bright
This homeowner needed all new cabinets, counter tops, electrical and plumbing and new appliances (washer, dryer, fridge) in their laundry room — talk about a laundry list of to-do items!
Tailored Living was able to deliver and then some. This new laundry room provides a functional design that can accommodate a growing family, just like this homeowner needed. The sleek white cabinets and overhead lighting are the perfect backdrop to fold fresh clothes and help you see that rogue sock that always tries to escape the wash.
If your laundry room has an extra room like this homeowner’s did, why not add a fridge or chest freezer. That way you can snack and plan dinner while your clothes wash, two chores taken care of in one room. Now that’s tailored living at its finest.
Basement Nook
Basement laundry rooms seem to be quite popular among HomeStars community members and we can see why. This homeowner had a complete basement renovation done by Sonoma Contracting. What would have been an odd nook of space instead became a sizeable laundry closet in between the bathroom and storage closet. Again, we see the stackable machines being a big space saver and the closet doors being a great way to hide away any mess that can be left for tomorrow. Sonoma Contracting was able to deliver a beautiful basement renovation just in time for homeowner Tracy to deliver baby number 2. With two small kids in one house, we’re certain this beautiful laundry room is getting a lot of use!
We hope these laundry rooms, nooks, and closets have give you some inspiration and ideas about what to do in your own home.
