We first introduced our Get a Quote feature in 2019. Since then, hundreds of thousands of quote requests have been submitted to HomeStars to help homeowners connect with the right pros for their projects. Submitting a quote request is the fastest way to get in touch with verified and reviewed pros in your area. Read on to learn the simple steps to submit a quote request so you can connect with pros on HomeStars.
Step 1: Go to HomeStars.com
Once you’ve arrived on the home page, the first thing you will see is a search bar asking you to enter what service you need and your postal code. We need these details so we know which pros to match you with and in what area.
Tip: Use broad search terms to find the general category your project falls into. For example, if you need to repair your roof shingles, you will need the help of a roofer. Type “roofing” in the search box to be connected with roofers in your area.
Be sure to leave a space between your postal code and do not include symbols like dashes. Once both fields are filled out, click the green “Get Quotes” button to start your search.
Step 2: Project Details
Next, you will see a list of possible project tasks. You can either scroll through the list or use the search bar at the top to look for your specific task. For example, you would search “shingles” here to bring up the right task. Click on the correct task and click the blue Next button.
Step 3: Status of Your Project
After that, we need to know the status of your project and how urgent it is. If you want to hire someone soon, select “Ready to Hire.” If you are still planning your project and want to get a quote to help you budget, select “Planning & Budgeting.” Once you’ve selected your option, click the blue Next button.
Step 4: Get Specific
From the list of tasks provided, select all that you need to complete. You will need to select at least one task to move to the next step. If none of the tasks speak to your problem, select “Other” and click the blue Next button.
Step 5: Timing
Let us know when you need your request to be completed. This will help pros who receive your request know if they are able to take on your project at this time. Once you select your timing option, click the blue Next button.
Step 6: Additional Details
Depending on your project, there will be some additional details we will need to clarify before sending out your request. You can see in this roofing example that we need to know how many stories your home is to proceed.
Answer any and all additional detail questions so we can accurately describe your project to the pros. After answering each question, simply click on the blue Next button. Note: You must answer each question in order to move to the next step.
Step 7: Notes and Pictures
This is your chance to provide some more details about your project and include photos that may help. For example, if your roof shingles need to be repaired, you might include a photo of your roof or the outside of your home. If you do not want to include additional information or photos, simply click the blue Skip button.
Step 8: Contact Details
Once you’ve given us your project information, we need to be able to contact you. We ask for your first name, phone number, street address and email. Without all of this information, we cannot submit your quote request. Please know that your information is safe and confidential. It will only be used to help locate pros in your area who are available to hire. Fill out this form with your contact information and click the Next button.
Last but not least, let us know your preferred contact method. Pros can either call you on the phone number provided or will respond to you via email. You will get an email notification to the email address provided. From there, log into your HomeStars account to read the company’s response to your request. You can chat directly with the company and book your services through HomeStars. Select either phone or email and then click the blue Submit button.
You have successfully submitted your quote request! HomeStars will now send out your project details to up to 5 local pros. They will evaluate your request and reach out if they are interested. Be sure to keep an eye on your inbox or phone for a reply. Pros tend to move quickly so you should be contacted soon to get your project started!
