Hao is an Account Manager who has been at HomeStars since August 2019. The best piece of advice that he’s heard while working here is that you can learn from everyone you meet and speak with here. What is your role at HomeStars?
I am an Account Manager. I help great companies take their stellar real-world reputations that they’ve built and help them grow their reputation online! While they do the lifting, I’m here to be their go-to digital marketing consultant and really ensure that they put their brand’s best foot forward online.
I’m here as a coach first and foremost and I try to manifest the talent that my companies have and coach them towards success or further success. This means check-ins to motivate, challenge, and update the companies I work with on their benchmarks.
I also am involved in videos and writing articles for the HomeStars Pro Centre! I’m hoping to make more of an impact on this so our customers are covered not only during office hours but in their own free time as well!
What makes you excited to come to work every day?
What excites me about coming to work is the people I work with. Behind every company I work with are eager professionals that want to build their brand and my drive comes from helping them do that. The relationships I’ve been able to build with my accounts stem from trust and accountability and the results I’ve been able to accomplish with my accounts do more than enough to get me going for the week.
I also genuinely enjoy working with those around me in the Customer Success department. We share a common goal of helping our customers grow and you can see that motivation in play throughout the day. They put team success first and foremost which makes work exciting!
If you could trade jobs with someone at HomeStars for a day who would it be and why?
After setting my out of office email for that day, of course, I would love to trade jobs with Shir for the day! Undoubtedly it would be a lot to handle, but my goal has always been to be an impact player. Trading places with Shir for the day would allow me to see things on a macro level (like seeing Earth from the Moon) to identify places that I can make an impact on even further.
I think about work a lot after hours and I think trading places with Shir for the day will calm that down for a bit!
Describe the qualities of your ideal teammate.
I try to live by these standards myself, so I would look for these qualities: trust, availability, personable, empathy, accountability, and most importantly consistent capability.
What has been your proudest moment at HomeStars so far?
My proudest HomeStars moment comes from when one of my accounts became incorporated. This customer started with us in the middle of winter. The day after walking him through the platform, his lungs collapsed and he was in the hospital but motivated to continue to build his HomeStars account. With just an iPhone 6 and lots of coaching, he was able to get incorporated and has seen consistent success on our platform – I couldn’t be prouder of Shawn for all that he did, does, and will continue to consistently do for the people of Niagara.
What fictional place would you want to exist and why?
Wakanda. I think the combination of innovation and selfless leadership can’t be found anywhere else in the world and it doesn’t get too cold in the winter!
