There are some common misperceptions about architects — perhaps the most typical being that architects are only hired when designing a house from the ground up. Even then, you might be tempted to shy away from hiring an architect thinking that they’re all of the Frank Lloyd Wright, Le Corbusier or Mies van der Rhoe ilk (either that or you’re thinking, “Who are these people?”).
