When it comes to your home’s landscaping, it’s important to keep it up to date and well maintained. Not only will this increase your curb appeal, but it can also be beneficial for your health and well being. Landscaping projects come with different ideas and in different sizes. They can involve both your front and back yards. Take a look at these two different landscaping projects from Vancouver for under $15,000.
Backyard Revamp for $10,000 in Vancouver
David and Michelle from Vancouver hired True North Landscaping to completely update their backyard. The project started with removing the old lawn and a dead tree. Then continued with installing a new lawn, garden, fence, drainage and irrigation system, as well as planting new trees.
As you can see from the final product, the new yard looks amazing. While having a newly landscaped yard is great, it comes with the responsibility of maintaining it. Without proper maintenance, your new yard can be right back where it started — filled with weeds. Luckily, David and Michelle won’t have to worry about maintaining their yard as they chose to install an irrigation system.
When it comes to proper care for your lawn, it can be a lot of work. Depending on your location and size of yard too much or too little water for your grass could actually ruin it. Plus, watering your lawn, to some, can be a chore that is easy to neglect. Irrigation systems take the guessing and hard work out of properly watering your yard by doing it for you. If you find your lawn maintenance too much work, consult with a pro about installing an irrigation and drainage system this spring.
Front Yard Retaining Wall for $11,000 in Vancouver
Chris hired Westcoast Modernscape to update their retaining wall and front steps. As seen from the before and after photos, the previous retaining wall was quite dated. So much so that the company actually tore the entire wall out to start building the new one. Retaining walls are built to hold soil behind them, however, the need for one varies from home to home. They can be used for aesthetics, to create flat usable space where there is a slope, or even for garden beds.
Overtime retaining walls can begin to fail due to the conditions of the soil in which it is retaining as well as poor water drainage. This can happen from improper construction, but is mainly due to age. In Chris’s case their wall was in need of an upgrade as the bottom was beginning to erode. The new retaining wall installed re-levelled their upper patio, creating usable flat space. This new space provides a level walkway, as well as level garden beds on either side. The company filled in where the wall meets the ground with gravel to provide increased aesthetics to the property as it can hide dirt and weeds. Along with the new stairs that were installed, the finished product looks stronger and is more appealing and practical compared to the old one. If your front walkway needs an upgrade, get connected with a pro to discuss your project details before the spring.
