October was a very exciting month for us, here, as we launched our new Star Reviewers Program. In addition, we have also introduced a monthly prize draw, open to all active Star Reviewers at each level. This month the prizes for Bronze, Silver and Gold Star Reviewers were a Kitchenaid Artisan Stand Mixer, a Vitamix Blender and a Dyson Vacuum.
Below we will outline the amount of entries received, how many entries each winner had, determining their odds, and how you can try your hand at winning this month! Write a review to be automatically entered to win 1 of 3 great prizes!
Contest entries for October were gained based on three separate criteria. Logging into your HomeStars account during the month of the draw automatically gained you one prize entry. Writing a review also gained you one entry. Those who reviewed a company that had not yet been reviewed on HomeStars gained THREE entries for each such review, as well earning our new “First To Review” profile badge.
Winners were determined by random for each star level.
Here are the winners from October and how they were selected…
In our Bronze prize category we had 1,117 contestants comprising 2,107 entries. Sherri Lang from Scarborough gained two entries for logging in and writing one review, giving her a very slight 2 in 2,107 odds of winning her brand new Kitchenaid Artisan Stand Mixer.
Stan from Thornhill was our Silver prize winner this month, winning a Vitamix Pro Series 200 blender. Stan logged in and wrote two reviews, including a company’s first review for a total of 5 entries, given him 5 in 289 odds against the other 132 entrants from the Silver Star Reviewers category.
Similarly, Justin Ancaster also took full advantage of our First To Review edge, reviewing a total of THREE new companies to give him a total of 10 out of the 44 entries for this month’s Gold Star prize, an amazing new Dyson Multi Floor vacuum. Having an almost 1 in 4 chance of winning against the other 12 Gold Star Reviewers vying for the prize proved to be a great advantage. Justin is looking forward to replacing his recently broken down old vacuum with his shiny new Dyson. Congratulations!
