Paint colours du jour

Our living/dining room is currently painted a very neutral Grey Mist (CC 80) from Benjamin Moore.
If you’re looking for a nice neutral colour, this one fits the bill. It’s a warm grey/green and neutral without being boring. Only I’m still looking for something a teensy bit livelier.
I called Sandy at Sandy’s Blinds ‘N’ Drapes Paint ‘N’ Paper, and asked her what was popular in paint colours these days….because given my history at choosing bad paint colours, I like to go with the tried and true!
The most popular colours at her store are: Pratt and Lambert Platinum (7-29), Safari (8-29) and Toasted Wheat (7-26). They’re beigy, but with an orangey under tint.
In the beige-grey category, the three most popular colour tints are Pebble (33-29), Muffin Tan (#33-27) and Seahawk (# 33-26). If you want to see these colours and complimentary colours, click each name and the Pratt and Lambert “Colour visualizer” will appear.
These are all very nice colours, but my house is full of greens, yellows and pinks. I’d rather do a wall colour with a green tint to it. Sandy being the patient person that she is, pulled out the list of most popular greens for me. She suggested I look at Moss Lake (19-30), Moss Mist (18-32), and Green Haze (17-29). This last one seems to be the most promising for our rooms.
Using the Pratt and Lambert website is also a lot of fun because you can “paint” rooms with a click of a button to see what a room might look like in a certain colour. I like using the bright and daring colours on the website since I have absolutely no desire to paint my real rooms in such powerful tones — but it’s sure fun to do on a computer!
Discount Deals:
Sandy also told me that there are discount coupons/gallon on the Pratt and Lambert website you can print off and bring in to the store (or any P&L dealer for that matter) for an immediate discount. They’re valid in Canada or the US.
So go ahead, have a good time “virtually” painting rooms, then check out our paint and paper retailers and do it for real! And don’t forget to go to our forum and add your two cents on the worst colour you’ve ever chosen for a room under the “Question of the Week.”
